Collins Joins President Trump in Atlanta for Major Infrastructure Announcement

Press Release

Date: July 15, 2020
Location: Atlanta, GA

Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) today joined President Donald J. Trump at UPS in Atlanta as he announced plans to expedite critical infrastructure projects in Georgia and across the nation by modernizing the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

"It was an honor to welcome President Trump back to Georgia today, and I couldn't have been prouder to join him as he announced his plan to strengthen our nation's infrastructure," Collins said. "For too long, NEPA's burdensome regulations and unnecessary red tape have prevented our communities from repairing crumbling roads, rebuilding closed-off bridges, and modernizing our infrastructure to best reflect the needs of our communities in the 21st century. With today's announcement, President Trump is reforming this outdated law in order to expedite critical infrastructure projects, like the expansion of I-75 in Atlanta and the deepening of the Savannah Harbor. I applaud President Trump and Secretary Elaine Chao for their efforts to keep America moving, and I remain committed to working with them to build a better, stronger future for every American."

Back in March, Collins joined his colleagues in sending a letter to the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) in support of the Trump Administration's efforts to streamline and modernize NEPA in order to eliminate the negative effects of permitting delays for critical infrastructure projects in communities across the United States.
